    What is Komo?

KOMO is a Dutch construction industry standard that affects all materials including paint. Almost all construction projects, including domestic houses, must comply to strict KOMO certification standards. This ensures that Dutch construction products have an incredibly high quality standard. Accoya, also being a Dutch company, is also KOMO certified. We do lots of testing together to ensure that our products have the highest possible quality. These standards go far beyond the UK industry standard and also European standards.

KOMO certification ensures an internationally recognised quality of products that participate in the rigorous testing. This accreditation goes far beyond that of EN927.

    What is KOMO accreditation?

KOMO certification is a quality mark and the accreditation is a highly trusted and respected international standard that guarantees quality and safety and in the context of our paints, it ensures that they are not only manufactured to the highest possible standard but are also able to accomplish what they are designed to do. KOMO accredited products are repeatedly assessed by independent industry experts to ensure their manufacturer’s claims for performance are valid.

    Testing and certification by KOMO

    • Testing with a new coating: artificial and natural weathering, water immersion-freezing test and determination of water uptake
    • Annual inspection with sampling of material for testing water uptake and wet adhesion
    • Requirements are far more demanding than with European standard EN 927

    All exterior systems

Almost all of our paint products and systems sold in the UK are certified by KOMO, including our 2-coat exterior systems. The voluntary accreditation is widely regarded as the leading accreditation body in Europe for testing and accreditation of products for the construction industry.

    KOMO: a mark of quality

Unlike CE marking and testing, which indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area, KOMO certification is a mark of quality. KOMO accreditation is a highly trusted and respected international standard that guarantees quality and safety and in the context of our paints, it ensures that they are not only manufactured to the highest possible standard but are also able to accomplish what they are designed to do.

    Confidence of manufacturers

KOMO is 100% voluntary and independent meaning that KOMO products carry the confidence a manufacturer has in its products. The mark owes its reputation for integrity because objective assessment is performed by independent experts, recognised certification institutes that have been appointed by a National Accreditation Council of the Netherlands.
