Maintenance guidelines
Do you want to get the most out of your exterior coatings? Get yourself a Maintenance Kit and enhance the lifespan of your exterior coatings! The video below demonstrates how to use the Maintenance Kit.
The maintenance period is influenced by the design of the building and the exposure to weathering. The table below provides the predicted maintenance schedule for factory finished windows and doors coated with the above products.
Dark colours are highly susceptible to solar heat gain and this can result in major changes in moisture content. This can lead to higher levels of dimensional movement in the timber substrates.
Where there are sharp edges the coating film has a lower thickness. On these edges maintenance will be required sooner. Dry sand blasting is a phenomenon that affects coastal locations. This can lead to rapid erosion of the coating film and more regular maintenance will be required.
The maintenance periods given above are only an indication of what may be achieved and do not constitute a guarantee. It is not possible to provide detail on all aspects of a building including the lifespan at each compass point, but certainly south facing aspects will deteriorate the quickest. For some very light shades the lifespans in this table do not apply. Please ask us for advice. They may require more regular maintenance and the colour of the timber under these lighter translucent shades can significantly change.
